3 Ways Assisted Living Can Actually Simplify a Senior’s Life
Senior Housing in Alamo Heights TX
Assisted living is a great way to help seniors be safer, enjoy life more, be surrounded by other elderly individuals who may share common interests, make friends, stay active, and so much more. It’s also a great way to help simplify life.
August 1st through the 7th is Simplify Your Life Week and there are plenty of ways that living in an assisted living community is a great way to enjoy a simpler, easier life, which can lead to more time pursuing interests that are important to those seniors.
Below are three ways assisted living can actually make a difference and make things easier for seniors who choose this as their living option.
1. They won’t have to cook or clean.
Trying to maintain a home, whether it’s a house, apartment, condo, or other living situation means keeping it clean, preparing meals for themselves, and more. If the senior is having more mobility issues, has greater difficulty getting around, or is confused at times, it can make quality of life lower.
By choosing assisted living, they won’t have to cook any meals if they don’t want to. They also won’t have to clean, which can be a great asset for those with limited mobility.
2. Activities are planned.
At an assisted living facility, there are many activities seniors can enjoy. Those activities are planned carefully by the staff members and are easy to follow and participate in by all elderly individuals, regardless of their physical capabilities, mobility, or other challenges they face.
A person living at home alone might become bored with the same old things, watching TV, reading books, and other isolating activities. Trying to plan activities with friends can be difficult. It’s much easier at an assisted living facility.
3. There are plenty of staff willing and able to help with mobility.
If the senior has difficulty getting up and down stairs, they can use the elevator instead at an assisted living facility. If they need assistance getting into and out of the shower one day because they are feeling weak, fatigued, or worn out, they can call on a staff member to assist them.
When life becomes simpler, it leaves more time and energy for other things the elderly individual might very well enjoy instead. That can lead to a higher quality of life, more enjoyment, and better safety for any senior who chooses this type of living environment over remaining in a home they are no longer able to maintain and stay safe in properly.
